5 Tips to Keep Your Motivation Soaring

Most people desire to achieve certain types of goals in life. They could be personal goals, like smiling more often. Or perhaps professional goals, like making a certain amount of money within a certain time frame. Of course, there’s plenty of goals you can create relationally, financially, spiritually, and so on – it’s human nature to want things to be better.

But it’s not always easy to stay motivated when a goal is set. I mean, how many New Year’s Resolutions are forgotten about within a month? Yes, achieving goals takes discipline, commitment, perseverance, an action plan, and plenty of motivation.

So how do you keep that mojo going day-to-day, week-to-week? Are there things you can do to keep your motivation levels soaring?

Absolutely! Here are 5 tips to help you stay motivated no matter what your goals are:

1. Write down your goals

Write your goals down on paper or type them up as a document and print them out. Why? Seeing your goals written down helps you stay motivated and can help you achieve those goals.

In fact, a 1979 Harvard Business School study asked MBA graduates about their goals. There was only 3 percent of those graduates that wrote down their goals, and it turned out that those 3 percent earned 10 times more than the other 97 percent combined.

Do you see the power of writing down your goals? Chances are those graduates who wrote down their goals followed suit with a strategic action plan. They had momentum going and were laser-focused on their path to success. I imagine they looked at their goals often, feeling motivation rise within them each time.

2. Visualize the end result

Regardless of what your goals are, visualize the end result of you achieving them. See yourself cutting the tape at the opening of your new business. Or sitting in an office with a pen in your hand signing closing papers for your next investment property. Feel the feelings too. How will you feel? Excited? Proud? Happy? Ecstatic? Visualize it and feel the feelings that go along with achieving it.

3. Think incrementally

If you set a goal and your time frame for achieving it is unrealistic, you may end up frustrated. Think of achieving your goals like walking up the stairs to get to another floor. You take those steps one by one, in increments. In the same way, strategize your action plan step by step, celebrating milestones as you accomplish them.

4. Attend seminars and workshops

A wonderful way to keep your motivation level high is to attend seminars and workshops. This could be for your business, relationship, spirituality, and so on. You can get energized when you’re around like-minded people in an atmosphere where excitement and dreams are soaring.

5. Know your "whys"

To stay motivated, it’ll help you to know your whys. Why do you want to achieve that goal? What do you think it will give you? Peace? Joy? Security? Favor? A feeling of worth? Accomplishment?

While you’re writing down your goals, write down your whys as well. When you truly know your reasons for wanting something, it’ll be easier to work through any obstacles that arise while you’re journeying toward accomplishing the goals.

Motivation is energy; a feeling. To keep it high, know that there are things you can do to nurture and sustain it. And, the more familiar you become with setting goals, writing them down, visualizing them, etc., the easier it will be to bring up that motivation along your journey.

What is AGAPE Love and How does one obtain it?

AGAPE (Selfless love) doesn't seek anything for itself and therefore it is the only type of LOVE that can be considered divine.
How does one obtain this love?

For Christian agape? Well, prayer is a way of 'reciprocating' (that sounds terrible, I know) agape, but it is given to all, not just Christians, freely. It doesn't depend on us, besides that, we should accept this love.
To obtain Agape? [AGAPE - freely giving, unconditional, un-self-centered love]

You cannot OBTAIN this love by yourself, since this love can only be given. For this love is always moving and is only Agape if it is being freely passed to another person. BUT to experience this love, here are a few suggestions...

1. Desire to Love (Agape) in this way.
2. Work on not being Egocentric
3. Start looking out for what's in the best interest of friends & enemies alike. Placing their needs above your own. Giving value to others' lives even above your own life. What is so amazing about this type of love is that as you are loving an enemy this way, they can (not always, especially at first) become your friend. In his Book "A Good Heart" when his Holiness the Buddhist Dalai Lama was presented with this concept of loving your enemies, he stated that if you don't practice compassion toward your enemy then on whom can you practice it, and then implied that animals cannot love this way...
4. Keep loving everyone this way even if they are mean to you and hurt you even to the point of death. (In other words, practice loving in this fashion at all times; though rain, snow, and dark of night.) As Aristotle said, "We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit." So to have this love, you must make it a part of yourself, make it a habit to always look out for everyone else's (Friend & Foe's) best interest...
5. Accept the Source of this AGAPE Love into your heart and God (the source of Agape) will start pouring this love through you out to others...

Actually the goal of Agape is for man to better understand the Love of God for His creation. It is the epitome of what Community was created to look like - that which was peaceable and orderly. When Adam and Eve disobeyed God by participating in the forbidden fruit, it was an act of selfish pursuit of autonomy - which is contrary to how God created us (communal beings). Therefore, AGAPE becomes the best love language that defines God's sacrificial, unconditional and transformational love toward his creation. No other Greek word comes close.

I was just thinking…

Most Christians say "It's in God's hands" or "God is in control".

The truth is, He gave us the control. The Bible is a book of “Choices”.

But if we want him to handle things for us, we must "Give him the control" and take our hands off. We must “choose” Him to be Lord of our lives. He doesn't need our help, but he does require our participation.

God operates in Faith, not fear. Faith and fear cannot exist at the same time. But Faith without works is dead.

Of the Ten Commandments, 4 are instructions on how we should honor Him, and the other 6 tells us how we should honor others.

Is there any Unforgiveness in your heart? How do you expect him to forgive you?

He honors his covenant with you, but if you are in covenant with Him.

Are you in honor or dishonor?
Are you in covenant? Do you tithe or do you rob God?
Are you "covered" in the Blood?

Favor is not fair. Grace is given “instead” of what we deserve.

As my Pastor, Dan Willis, would say, “I’m just sayin’”.
